Sephora Make up Haul

I wanted to share my recent visit to sephora. I have never been one for make up but that is only because I have had no idea how to use it. I always just watched a friend do make up and bought what they bought lol. How many of you have done the same? I think we all have natural talents and fitness over beauty is definitely mine. Ideally I would like to be more organic and conscious about what I am using on my skin but I also rarely put make up on. Step one for me is learn to wear and actually use the make up I have and then I can explore different options and find what works best for me. I am going to share what I have been using and enjoying.

Lately I have been following Courtney Shields on instagram and she shares some amazing tutorials and make up tips. I literally screen shot everything she shares and then head to the store.

Another thing I’ve tried is getting the Fab Fit Fun box lately and it’s lead to me being able to try lots of really cool products too!

It CC+ cream: This foundation is super light weight and was amazing for traveling. I wore it out in the sun, working out and to the beach and it lasted great!

MAC natural radiance prep + prime: This stuff really adds a dewy flow to your finished look. It feels really silky and glides on smooth. You don’t need much like some other primers I’ve tried.

Too faced Born this way concealer: This is my absolute first time trying concealer and it’s been great! I can’t compare to any other products but it’s doing its job in my opinion. Dark circles vanish on days when I have time to glam. If I don’t have much time I usually just get foundation + setting powder on.

NARS Sheer glow foundation: This foundation gives a lot of coverage but not that yucky mask filling. It feels light weight and goes on flawless!

Thrive cosmetics brilliant eye brightener: I use this as eyeshadow, eye brightener and highlighter. It’s a nice creamy stick and blends great too.

Tarte Hotel Heiress Bronzer: I have never had a bronzer do this good of a job. I just have to tap my brush and I have enough coverage. A little goes a LONG way and I’ve been using it on my eyes which is a rad tip Courtney always shares!

Dior Show pump + volume mascara: This stuff is my fave because of actually water proof and doesn’t clump. I don’t like the look of spider lashes and this one goes on light and natural looking.

NYC Dewy finish: This product line is from the drugstore but it’s one of my secret faves to grab some key items from. One being this make up setting spray!

Lise Watier Powder: This powder is also from the drug store but it has great coverage and lasts all day! One of my girl friends has used it for a long time and has me hooked now:)

Have fun playing with some new make up and let me know what you think!

Fall Layering- My Go To Pieces

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had an opportunity to spend time with family and reflect on the past year and what you are thankful for. I had a great long weekend, as we shut The Studio down on Monday to spend time with our family members.

Here on the west coast, we've been blessed with having an unusual amount of extended sunshine this fall, but inevitably the rain is coming, the cold air, and less day light.

My favourite go to pieces in fall guessed it! LAYERS! A girl needs options! At 6am it's freezing out now and I need to be able to bundle up, and then strip down once my body warms up in the studio. One of my go to pieces is a lululemon down jacket. This year they released the Down For It Jacket, it's great because it's a stylish duck down puffy jacket. lululemon is also now using traceable duck down! I grab it as I am walking out the door and it's dark and cold. I do a lot of outdoor running so one of my go to pieces is lululemon long sleeves that also have silver in them. It allows me to stay warm even when I am starting to sweat. The same applies for the studio. They make an abdunance of these tops and they are great for warm ups on the spin bike or my TRX classes I teach when I am waiting for the temperatures to rise in the studio.

For yoga and spin I love wearing a cropped pant in the studio. My go to are the Align pants. Simplistic design with just enough stretch. They have a light compression in them more than I have found in the popular Wunder Unders. For yoga I like to keep a wrap close by so when it's time to cool down from my flow I don't get too cold. My go to wrap is from a company called Plaj Towel, they make premium turkish towels, and wraps. They are cozy and lightweight. You can buy them locally here in Ucluelet at Gypsy Drifter

When it's time to leave and turn the lights off at the studio and take my doggies out on the trails and the beaches I like to look for warm and functional items. I like to cover my ears and fingers. Ball caps are great for this or one of my go to items when it isn't raining too hard are toques from Artizia. I like to be use the lululemon running gloves so that I can still control my tunes without having to take my gloves off! Rain or shine I have to get my dogs out and my go to jacket for rain is my Baro Jacket, it is super repellent and amazing on the coast- plus it still allows me to look fashionable :)

This fall I have been getting back into my indoor fitness routine since The Studio has opened. I have been spinning everyday and then lengthening after with a yoga routine. I have been especially focused on my hip and heart openers being in a seated position on the bike and folded forward, I need this. I am also enjoying my quick 30 minute workout classes because they get you warmed up and out the door quick with an awesome workout completed for the day.

Shopping in the City

Hey guys!

Just got back from running a marathon in Vancouver this past weekend. It was great to run in the city. The shopping was even better. I had saved some of my pennies up to get some new gear while I was away. I shopped at Winners the first day and grabbed an awesome pair of pants and a workout top. Winners always has some great workout gems, if you have the time to search through. I often find great deals on pants and tops here. Day 2 I allowed myself to check out Lululemon. Anddddd well I could resist. I grabbed a new pair of purple align leggings, a long crop sports bra and a tied crop tee. Lets just say I LOVED too many things and couldn't decide on what to pick. Align pants are my "GO TO" pants from Lululemon. Clients always ask me what pants I like to wear. I prefer these pants because I can wear them to the office and then go teach class after. They are so soft and feel like your not wearing a constrictive pair of pants. They have a great high waist band and they are 7/8 for length (I am short so they fit me like regular pants). I also grabbed this new crop tied up tee and it is a new fave -> Cresent Tee. It's great for working out because it's light and leaves a touch of skin open when I wear high waisted pants to keep me cool during a workout. I love the look of the top and I wore it to work today. It has the ability to be a daytime or workout option. Check out the pics below for more details. I am wearing a size 4 in the crop and pants.

It's been way too long since my last Fashion post!

Eeeek, sorry guys!! I am back and have great news....

N E W - B B K - G E A R - I S - H E R E

It's here!! HURRAY! I am so stoked on how these pieces turned out. I am also so thankful to combo with Pina Styles. Here are some of their very own designs and now available in both shops. Below you will find their NEW Pina crop in black, Bamboo V-neck in black and black tights. I am wearing a size medium in the tee and small in pants/crop. I will have new items in stock next week to share with all of you too at the studio. I am so thankful to work with a local company that designs their own clothing, prints them in Ucluelet and has them made in Vancouver. I love being able to shop L O C A L - Big local love!! Support our local shops and head to the Pina Ukee or Tuff shops to grab any of these items. They are available for custom printing with any design! Summer is coming and we all need more crops in our life right?? HECK yes!! I even wore the crop today as my sports bra. TONNES of support and so comfy I didn't want to take it off. Check out the photos below and let me know if you want me to order something specific for you asap.

Fabulous leggings

Hey guys!

I recently purchased some really awesome leggings from a new site a friend showed me. The site is Canadian and carries lots of great brands. The leggings are by Teeki and Onzie. I love how soft and silky they feel on. They all have a wide waist band which is my pick and preference for comfort. If you would like to order a pair for yourself you can use my discount code "kara15" to receive 15% off your order. Check the site out
